(Inspired by the Celtic form Ae Freislighe)
Teaching her to sew her thoughts with intent
Is my greatest responsibility
The things she thinks will shape her and invent
The person she decides to be
The subject is in constant motion
An ever-changing curriculum so vast
To help her tack the knowledge ocean
Keeping straight and strong her mast
I cannot be her map, but her compass perhaps?
I can help steer her, but it will be up to her to see
On the horizon lies happiness as well as mishaps
That one day she will be the force directing me
So for us both I must do my job well indeed
The ripples of repercussion have far to go
Of her gentle guidance, we will both be in need
I’m aware, as I carefully begin teaching her to sew
